Forbes magazine reveals the top 10 richest billionaires in the world for 2016. Their 30th annual list features 1,810 billionaires around the world with a total net worth of almost $6.5 trillion. This year marked the first time the average net worth of a billionaire dropped -- to $3.6 billion, down $300 million from last year. The U.S. has 540 billionaires. Also purchased diversified financial services provider Seguros de Mexico, and formed Grupo Financiero Inbursa by integrating Casa de Bolsa Inversora Bursatil, Seguros de Mexico and Fianzas La Guardiana. By 1985, Grupo Carso had acquired a controlling stake in Artes Graficas Unidas and Fabricas de Papel Loreto y Pena Pobre, and a majority stake in Sanborns and its affiliate, Dennys.
In 1986, Minera Frisco and Empresas Nacobre were acquired and later gained control of tire companies Euzkadi and General Tire. In 1990, Slim Helu took Grupo Carso's operations in heavy industry, services, retail and consumer goods public on the Mexican Stock Exchange
